SmartCleam Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 29, 2026 · Effective date: September 29, 2026
SmartCleam (the "App") is developed by selfLab ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the App treats your information. Our core promise: all analysis and processing of your photos, videos, contacts and calendar data takes place locally on your device. We do not collect, upload, or disclose your personal content to any third party.
1. Information We Collect
The App does not collect any personal content data. Specifically:
- Photos and videos: used only to identify duplicates, similar items, screenshots, large files and related cleanup categories locally on your device. Scan results stay on your device. Photos and videos are never uploaded to any server.
- Contacts: read only when you open Contacts Cleanup on the Tools tab, for local deduplication, merging and backup export. Contact data is never uploaded.
- Calendar: read only when you open Calendar Cleanup on the Tools tab, to identify outdated and duplicate events locally. Calendar data is never uploaded.
- Account information: the App requires no registration or login, and does not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers or any other identity information from you for an account.
- Purchases and subscriptions: if you buy SmartCleam Pro, payment is processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your credit card number or other payment instrument details. The App may read StoreKit purchase / entitlement status on-device (for example whether Pro is active) so premium features can unlock. Apple may process purchase-related data under Apple’s privacy policy.
2. System Permissions
- Photos (read): used to scan and clean the photo library. Denying this permission limits cleanup features that need library access.
- Photos (add): used only when you actively use Video Compression (or a similar export) and choose to save the result back to your photo library.
- Contacts: used only for Contacts Cleanup on the Tools tab.
- Calendar: used only for Calendar Cleanup on the Tools tab.
3. Data Storage
Scan results, the temporary pending-delete confirmation list, cleanup statistics, and locally cached product display prices / entitlement flags are stored on your device (inside the app sandbox and, where applicable, the App Group container used for the home screen widget). Uninstalling the App removes app-stored data. We operate no remote database that stores your personal content. Active App Store subscriptions remain associated with your Apple ID and can be restored after reinstall.
4. Third-Party Services
The App integrates no advertising SDKs, analytics SDKs or any third-party tracking services for ads. In-app purchases and subscriptions are provided through Apple’s App Store / StoreKit. Apple’s handling of payment and account data is governed by Apple. Your photo, contact and calendar content is never shared with third parties by us.
5. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under the age of 14 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Your Rights
- You can revoke the App's photo, contacts or calendar access at any time in the system Settings;
- Every photo library deletion requires your confirmation in a system dialog. The App cannot bypass that confirmation;
- You can manage or cancel auto-renewable subscriptions in iPhone Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions;
- Uninstalling the App erases data it has stored locally (subscription status with Apple is separate).
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version will be published on this page, and material changes will be announced in the App.
